In business or at work, ask yourself

TOP 0

I am a small businessman, have worked experience, but the time is very short. Business span is a bit big recently, make oneself a bit tired, also can not say is about to develop quickly or want to catch fire. After a great deal of reflection, I came up with this answer.

Well is a very subjective adjective, honey to me, poison to you, it’s hard to compare what you can’t quantify.

[2] from a purely financial point of view, it seems that business people can crush office workers, such as those in Chengdu, my second-tier city, who make five hundred thousand small businesses a year but earn five hundred thousand per year, in Chengdu, the number is still counted, the vast majority of the income of workers are stuck below 30W

(of course, this is already Chengdu’s relatively well-paid population, with many more earning lower wages.). But considering time and energy investment, risk taking and other multi-dimensional factors, the businessman’s “Hourly wage”is not necessarily higher than the office workers.

In 2017, for example, I handled more than 350 million in sales, but excluding the total cost of zero, the profit is only about 60 million, but a key point to note, this is six hundred thousand profit, is not equivalent to workers earned 60 million annual salary, a large portion of that $60 million went to start new projects or expand old ones, which means my discretionary fund is only $20 million plus, so let’s go back and look at what I paid for that 20W + discretionary money.

1. I have no weekends, no holidays, no problem to deal with any time other than eight hours. My heart would quiver at the sound of the phone.

2. The money was not paid to me on a steady monthly basis, and I lost money every month between August and December of 17 because of some unforeseen circumstances. If I failed to stop the loss, my discretionary funds would probably fall sharply again, well, at my age, I’m already below the average office worker.

In order to develop my business, I have to pay a lot of personal expenses. In August, I visited Beijing for 14 days, and in December, I visited Shanghai for a week.

2007-9-2416:17[ hide ] the greatest fear of man is the unknown, and the funniest and scariest thing about business is that it is always unknown, no matter how experienced businessmen, it is impossible to guarantee victory, but because of the need for development, and constantly to challenge the unknown. That in itself is anti-human.

I have a good friend who does business in Beijing. I haven’t seen him for years. I met him when I was in Beijing on business. He told me his experiences over the past few years. He went from a personal woodworking studio to a solid wood furniture factory, from small factories to large factories, and also because of environmental problems, they were asked to relocate. From Beijing to Hebei, from Hebei to Shandong, they hit a brick wall everywhere, and all kinds of uncertainties finally overwhelmed this resolute man. They had to close the furniture factory, the remaining wood and semi-finished products could have been turned into furniture to earn profits, but now it has become a pile of garbage, not only cut off water, but also a debt. He is the only one who can afford to go to work in another factory, perhaps at a lower salary because of the industry.

He got out of debt one way or another, but he was suffering from depression. As I spoke to him, he had just finished a four-month stint as a clerk at 7-eleven. It is estimated that no one thought, in the north of the bridge near the humble 7-11 that the humble clerk, has been running dozens of furniture factory, has been into gold and debt.

The months of July 11, he told me, had been his most comfortable days in recent years. There was nothing wrong with him except making less money. The atmosphere was simple. There was no need to play office politics, before the end of the shift to do a good hand-over, everything can be ignored, the phone to turn off, to mute. He said this with a look of undisguised satisfaction and delight on the corners of his mouth, and I suddenly began to pity myself for how easy it would have been to have been a few months after 7-11.

2007-9-2415:15[ hide ] there is a famous saying that says, look at a man not what he says, but what he does. After all the talk about bad business, I’m still in business, so there must be something about business that appeals to me.

1. Challenge the unknown. Where’s my ceiling? I’m sure no one would dare to conclude that I’m just a small businessman now, but it’s hard to say what’s going on in business, and maybe a certain kind of serendipity will have a certain kind of power over me, and before that power comes along, is to keep honing yourself, to challenge the unknown.

2. Embrace the joy of growth. I’ve been trying to start a small business for almost 10 years since my freshman year, and both the type of business I’m running and the size of my investments, including my own stress tolerance and safety margin, are changing fast. Just two years ago I would have been up all night losing $100,000, and I would have killed myself if I had been saddled with one million in debt. Now, while $1,000 is still a lot of money for me, if I’m going to be saddled with one million grand in debt, I’ll have to put it aside for now, but it’s been a great success to be able to look at it with Peace of mind.

3. You Don’t want to go to work because you don’t want to waste time and energy on less important things. Business is results oriented. You Don’t have to pretend to be working hard, even if I am lying in bed every day playing with a cell phone, as long as the initial location is appropriate, positioning, marketing power, product stability. And you’re already making money lying around.

4. The most important and realistic point is that doing business can indeed leverage a larger volume of capital than going to work and open the door to a new world. There is an old saying in Beijing that this person has seen the world, and it costs money to eat and see it, if we don’t do this, we can save tens of thousands of Yuan this year. But without inspection and study, what shall we do next year and what shall we do afterwards. I now owe the bank more than $4 million (bank debt is not the same as the above mentioned debt, bank loans are financial products, debt capacity is part of the assets, if I owe four million foreign debt I would have to commit suicide) . To spend the bank’s money on one’s own affairs is to borrow the chicken to lay eggs. In combination with the current rate of inflation, this will not hurt. For the vast majority of people my age, four million is probably an unimaginable number.

And finally, finally, back to number one

Good is a very subjective adjective, and it’s hard to compare what you can’t quantify.

Everyone for good understanding is not the same, what is good, what is not good, some people think that flat light is true, and some people just like the grand. The risks and opportunities of doing business are far greater than those of going to work, so there’s no harm in trying, but keep your options open. I know people who say you can’t survive without losing your mind, and believe me, most of the The Parting of the Ways have lost, says The Parting of the Ways. The winner is recorded in the history books. . . . .

I’m healthy, an average small business owner with big ambitions. These are just a few pointers, not necessarily for everyone, but for a large sample of people, the overall picture is solid.

If you think this is a bit of chicken soup, check out my post, Small Business Health, which sums up my 11 years of small business experience and may be instructive for you.
